This paper explores the impact of yoga on mental health. In particular, it looks at how yoga can lower stress and improve emotional stability. Using existing published literature, the authors discuss the role of yoga in the context of issues such as anxiety, depression, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/Syndrome), and stress. They suggest that yoga reduces cortisol levels, activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promotes a mindfulness approach, provides social support and physical activity, and induces positive neurobiological changes. These changes have a beneficial impact on mental health.
